The South African Chaplain Associationunder which SACA operates—functions as a nationally acknowledged, organization, fully registered in accordance with the National Corporate Registry of South Africa. Our governance is led by a National Board of Directors, elected by members from every province, ensuring regional representation and inclusivity.

SACA represents a wide range of professionals including Chaplains, Trauma Responders, Pastoral Counsellors, Lifestyle Coaches, Facilitators, Mentors, Pastors, Priests, Apostles, and First Responders. Our members serve in both public and private sectors, counselling centers, schools, churches, government departments, hospitals, clinics, correctional services, emergency services, call centers, faith-based organizations, NGOs, and community-based support agencies.

As a professional registration body, SACA is committed to maintaining high standards of ethical and professional practice. We promote national regulation to ensure that practitioners understand their Scope of Practice, act ethically within a counselling or ministry context, meet minimum standards, and know when and how to refer clients appropriately. The Scope of Practice defines the professional boundaries within which a member may operate safely and competently without referral, based on training and context. SACA exists to support, recognize, and professionally equip those who provide hope, care, and guidance to others. We aim to strengthen the field of chaplaincy and counselling by providing structure, support, national recognition, and continuous professional development. Through this, we affirm the vital contribution of chaplains and related professionals to the well-being of individuals and communities throughout South Africa.
